Safe City Gas

Please follow these simple tips to keep you and your home safe.

Before using gas
  • Please keep rooms well ventilated
  • Make sure there are no flammable substances
    or objects like plastic containers or paper near
    the gas range

When you use the gas range
  • Make sure the cooking flame has ignited
  • Also, make sure that while you are cooking the
    flame has not gone out
  • Never leave your gas range unattended

After using gas
  • Close the intermediate valve (fuse cock) located
    near your gas stove.
  • If you plan to be away or not use gas for an
    extended period of time, close the metering

Please contact the Service Center (1577-1190) if the gas hoses or pipes become
damaged or if you notice anything unusual in any of your gas-related facilities.

Self Checks and Safety Tips

Pipe / hose leak check
  • Check for pipe corrosion or damage
  • Make sure there are no burnt or wornout
    areas in the hose
  • Check for gas leaks by applying soapy
    water and seeing if any gas bubbles form.
    If you can see bubbles, call the
    Service Center (1577-1190)

When boiler is in use, check flames
  • Use boiler only after confirming that the
    flames have been properly ignited
  • If the flames burn red continuously,
    do not use the boiler and call the
    Service Center (1577-1190)

Boiler / exhaust pipe inspection
  • Check to make sure there are no gaps or
    leaks in the connection between the
    exhaust pipe and the gas boiler
  • If the boiler does not ignite properly or
    there is an unusual smell, sounds or
    overheating immediately stop using the
    boiler and contact the Service Center

Check boiler room
  • Check and make sure there are no objects
    stored so that they would block access to
    the boiler
  • There should also be no flammable
    substances or objects (paper, plastic)
    stored near the boiler

Gas leak emergency

Close both the metering valve
and the intermediate valve
(fuse cock )

Open the windows and doors
for ventilation.

Do not use an open flame or
electrical equipment.

Immediately contact the Service
Center (1577-1190) and tell them
you have a gas leak.
